Some Philadelphians think it’s called Society Hill because of the many well-to-do people that live there. Brick colonial homes with colorful exterior fixtures adorn the quiet and tree-lined cobblestone streets. Society Hill’s historic colonial architecture juxtaposed with local restoration efforts have made this neighborhood a destination for tourism as well as a very comfortable home for families. Many places of worship, historical sites and public parks are within walking distance from any Society Hill home. There are blocks in Society Hill which will make you feel like you’re living in the suburbs. You have your choice of the many beautiful brownstones, or live in a nice high-rise condo at Society Hill Towers Condominiums, with river or city views. Hungry? Walk over to Zahav for amazing modern Isreali Cuisine, Italian at Positano Coast, or enjoy a movie at one of the three Ritz Theatres. My favorite place to have coffee (but don’t call them a coffee shop), is Freida’s at 3rd and Walnut Street.
